چکیده
This paper reports on my replication of the 1997 Sachs and Warner resource curse working paper. Exact pure replication is achieved. A test for statistical replication shows that some of the Sachs and Warner results attempting to determine the cause of the resource curse are not robust to the country sample. A test for scientific replication shows that findings of the resource curse are not sensitive to different measures of resource intensiveness, though they are subject to country sample and omitted variable bias. Reporting errors in the published paper show the value of researchers making both their data and code publicly available. JEL codes: O13, Q32, Q33, B40, C80

Some New Methods for Prediction of Time Series by Wavelets
Extended Abstract. Forecasting is one of the most important purposes of time series analysis. For many years, classical methods were used for this aim. But these methods do not give good performance results for real time series due to non-linearity and non-stationarity of these data sets. On one hand, most of real world time series data display a time-varying second order structure. On th...

This paper discusses the sources o...

Economic reform and the process of global integration. Brooki...
متن کاملThe idea trap: the political economy of growth divergence
The paper develops an economic–political model to explain why the convergence hypothesis fails even though good economic policies seem to be a sufficient condition for strong economic growth (Sachs, J., Warner, A., 1995a. Economic convergence and economic policies. NBER Working Paper No. 5039. National Bureau of Economic Research, Cambridge, MA.). The model has three variables: growth, policy, ...
